VI COMMANDO

L/Cpl. Stan Wetherall, formerly a Private/ NCO driver with 1st Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment (3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division) in northern France and Belgium, served as an L/Cpl. with No.1 (later becoming No.101) Troop of No.6 Commando from 1940 (Scarborough).

In March 1941, Stanley Wetherall was promoted to full Corporal by Capt. “Monty” Montanaro, before leaving to serve as an NCO with No.2 Special Boat Section (from April 1942).
